C.I.F Road show - Building Control (Amendment) Regulation S.I.9 of 2014

Construction Industry Federation is currently arranging a road show around the country to inform the local Construction Companies and Sole Traders about the new building regulations that came into effect as of 1st of March 2014.

If you are a Construction Company or a Sole Trader, as of 1st of March 2015 it would be compulsory for you to be registered  in the Construction Industry Federations new register called CIRI.

All the construction companies and sole traders who are on the register are required to meet the following criteria:

Adhere to an industry Code of Ethics and Obligations

Demonstrate that they have construction competence and experience.

They must be tax compliant.

Commit to undertaking continuous professional development.

Comply with the health and safety regulations relating to the construction industry.

Show they have the relevant insurance policies in place.

Obey all the latest building standards and regulations.

Attendance at a CIRI induction course. €50

According to the Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government, the reason why you have to register yourself is because of the mistakes that people like you made in Priory Hall and the problems with the Pyrite. If you think that this is not right due to the fact that they had nothing to do with you, don’t worry as you are not alone. He also is punishing the self builders for other peoples mistakes.

So, if you wish to carry on working on buildings from 1st of March 2015 you need to be a member of this special selected group otherwise you are out of a job.

By the way, do not forget that membership to this special club would only cost you an annual fee of  €738. As CI.F is a private company, ever wondered what you would get in return for your money?

Good luck.
