Energy Efficient Glass
There have been many types of energy saving glass developed over the past few years but it has only just started to make it’s way into the residential market.
A lot of heat that goes out of the windows goes out through the frame and into the wall cavity. Manufacturers are now putting a low-E coating on the cavity facing surface to reduce this loss.
The energy saving glass is coated with thin sliver based products and semi-conducting coating of tin oxide. These products are manufactured by company’s like: Pilkington in the UK. For more information visit their site on
www.pilkington.com
A new system has also been developed for around the windows it is thermal insulation and glazing window systems see Innovations
The alternative to energy efficient glass is to put in triple glazing.
