Construction Industry Federation challenges Dublin City Council in court over new development levy scheme.

Under the old scheme, developers had to pay €3000 contribution per house where as now it has been changed to €11500. The developers are also required to contribute towards the cost of things like roads, sewage, drains, etc....

The hearing in High Court is expected to last three days.

A whirlpool, is it only for the rich and famous?

There was a time that you could only find a whirlpool in very expensive houses and it was in general thought to be a very luxury item in anyone’s home. But fortunately these days due to advances in technology and competition in the market, the prices are coming down and whirlpool baths are replacing the traditional ones in more and more new dwellings being built throughout Ireland.

A new straight whirlpool bath (1700 x 700 mm) can be purchased from Tubs & Tiles for as little as €599 or if you prefer a corner one (1300 x 1300) for as little as €799. The choices and options are numerous and depending on your own personal taste and requirement there is a whirlpool to suit every individuals needs. So, if you are building your new house or renovating an old bathroom do consider a whirlpool in your design, not only can it help you to relax and enjoy the ritual of bathing it could also increase the value of your property if you wish to sell it in the future.

Our thanks goes to the team at Tubs & Tiles, Tralee for all their friendly help and advice regarding their range  of whirlpools.

If you are planning a new kitchen, visit Axiom Worktops on www.axiomworktops.com where you can create a design and view it in a virtual kitchen.

Due to high amount of rain this month and high level of water in the ground, if you are planning to clear your site and start your build make sure that you employ a contractor with a track digger instead of a wheeled digger as the latter can cause more problems on the site due to the lack of manoeuvrability.

Multimedia Networking

  • Play 6 or 12 connected audio or video sources in upto 18 rooms
  • Watch TV or films throughout the building
  • Connect security cameras, video baby monitors and check them on any TV in the house.
  • Listen to all your music throughout the house.
  • Control Your source from any room.
  • Create a computer network to share files, printers and other peripherals.

If you are planning to plant any bare rooted shrubs or trees, these should be done before the end of March.

Plant Of The Week : Actinidia (chinese gooseberry), Witch-hazel, Angelica, Linum - Flowering Flax

You should avoid having sharp edges in your house as they stop the flow of chi,          if there are some, you should try and soften them by placing a plant by them.
