Problems and Solutions

If you are self building there is always going to be a problem that you have to deal with and the one main thing that you should not be doing is panic.

Every problem has a solution, you just have to find the method and the cheapest way to solve it.

If you come accross a problem, spend some time and see if others have had to deal with the same situation and if they can advice you on how to deal with it.

Search the internet, ask the locals and professionals for their knowledge on how to rectify this problem.

So remember, do your homework before you start and cover any area of the build in your study before the work has started and see if there would be a problem and at what stage you have to deal with it.

The saying “ I will cross the bidge when I get there ” could work here but try and find out if the bridge is passable by trying to look at all the possible options before you actually get there.

Some of the problems that you could come across are listed below but if you have experienced anything that you would like to share with us, please let us know.

Condensation & Mould:

Tree Roots

Water Table

Problems with the soil

Problems with the chimney?
