Rosemary
Rosemary is a shrub with pine like needle leaves. It is evergreen and has delicate blue flowers that last through spring and summer. Growing to a height of upto five feet it will not take up a lot of room in your garden
Rosemary comes from the same group of herbs as the mint family. It has a strong aromatic scent which can be used to flavour food or for aroma therapy. It was believed by the Ancients that Rosemary strengthened the memory.
In days gone by it was said that Rosemary was a dominate influence of the house mistress “Where Rosemary flourished the woman ruled!”
The uses of this versatile shrub has somewhat been reigned to history but it is still used today to flavour wine and in some parts it is used to make Christmas decorations. In France hospitals used to burn Rosemary with Juniper berries to purify the air and prevent infections.
Cultivation of this shrub is easily done by cutting flowering branch in the summer and placing it in potting compost or it can be grown from seed. Growing Rosemary in your garden can only add to the beauty and relaxation of this space.
